What is a Coalition?

The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) defines a coalition as a formal arrangement for cooperation and collaboration between groups or sectors of a community, in which each group retains its identity but all agree to work together toward a common goal of building a safe and healthy community.

The Irvine Prevention Coalition is made up of citizens who represent all sectors of the community including youth, parents, businesses, media, schools, youth serving organizations, law enforcement, faith leaders, fraternal organizations, civic and volunteer groups, health care professionals, county agencies, local service providers, and other organizations.
